Premiere at LTAA: First Test Cell Run for PW127-J Engine
The youngest member of Pratt & Whitney Canada’s PW100 turboprop series – the PW127-J engine – has completed its first test cell run end of September 2007. Even after 20 years experience, 27 modifications and continuous development through P&WC, this successful PW100-series engine allowed this premiere at LTAA’s facilities in Alzey, Germany.

The implementation of the PW127-J engine was a challenge for the Alzey test cell team, but nevertheless the engine S/N EA 0024 of Air Zimbabwe was tested successfully after a Hot Section Inspection (HSI) and a Power Turbine Shaft repair, and is now ready for its operation in a MA-60 of the Chinese Aircraft Manufacturer Xian Aircraft Co.
Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey’s Test Cell Manager Peter Maurer could feel happy about this positive result: ‘With their high engagement and enthusiasm, our team has worked on the necessary test cell modifications and enabled the testing of this engine model in Alzey.’
Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey is nowadays the leading independent service provider for regional aircraft engines. Approx. 400 employees at the Alzey facilities are in care of more than 80 regional airline operators worldwide.
